Personal Information Form (PIF) Instructions
Before completing your Personal Information Form (PIF), we strongly suggest that you read the Claimant’s Guide that was given to you at the same time as the PIF. The PIF can be completed on the screen and then printed. Your completed PIF cannot be saved locally through your browser or the Adobe Acrobat software. Once completed, the PIF may not be sent to us electronically or by fax.
You must provide the completed PIF, either by mail or by hand, to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada office processing your claim.
As required in subsection 6(1) of the Refugee Protection Division Rules, you must provide the original and two (2) copies of the PIF to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada no later than 28 days after you receive it from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
If the electronic version of the PIF is unavailable on this Web site, this does not relieve you of your obligation to provide your completed PIF within the specified 28-day deadline.
If your completed PIF is not received within 28 days, the IRB may decide that your claim has been abandoned.
